The Hyundai Accent is a car manufactured by South Korean auto maker Hyundai. It is sold as Verna in South Korea. It is also sold as Hyundai Excel in Australia. Excel is the name used by Accent’s predecessor. Hyundai replaced Accent with Verna in South Korea in the year 2000. Cars with Accent brand name are still sold in many countries of the world.
Hyundai came to India after the liberalization of the Indian economy. The company came up with its first car Hyundai Santro in the country. It hired film actor Shahrukh Khan as the brand ambassador of Santro and popular with the Indian car buyers.
Hyundai has seen great success in the Indian market. The company has become India’s second biggest car manufacturer after the market leader Maruti Suzuki. One reason of the success of the company is launching small cars in India. As most of Indians do not have any car and people are price-conscious, small cars are sold in the biggest numbers in the country.
Over the years Hyundai has came up with many models like Accent, i10, 120, Sonata Transform, Sonata Embera, and Hyundai Tucson for the Indian market. Out of these Santro has been a best seller. it was adjudged the best in compact segment in the Vehicle Dependability Study by JD Power Asia Pacific in the year 2008. Hyundai has plans to gradually replace its highly successful car Santro with i10. The small car i10 has also seen success in the Indian car market. Hyundai is also likely to launch another model i30 soon in the market.
Hyundai has kept launching new versions of its car Accent. The company launched LPG variant May 2009. The eco-friendly car comes with factory fitted LPG kit. The car’s LPG gas kit was approved by the Department of Explosives (DOE) and the Automotive Research Authority of India. The new Accent is powered with 1.5 litre engine. Its power train is matched by a 5-speed manual transmission. According to Hyundai, the new car Hyundai Accent Eco has the lowest greenhouse gas emission. The car has engine immobilizer for enhanced security of passengers.
